We thought it was only fitting to focus on a ‘vintage theme' this month given that the harvest has only just wrapped up for another year in Champagne. Champagne is electric at this time of year as an exploding labour force descends on the region to quickly move the grapes from the vine to the press facilities to extract those pristine fruits. Press, staff, wine-makers and enthusiasts spend long days between the vines watching over the methodical picking, stripping the vines bare for yet another year. The producers we review this month are; Champagne Geoffroy based in Aÿ which is an excellent grower-producer making terroir focused wines. Then we have one of the oldest houses in Champagne - Heidsieck Monopole & Co. which was founded in 1785.
