Since its inception, seven cuvées have been created: 1983, 1985, 1990, 1995, 2004, 2006 and 2007. These cuvées are truly exceptional, as they are made up solely of wines from the same year. These years are recognized as extraordinary by Charles Heidsieck's cellar masters and selected with extreme care for their unusual maturation capacities.

This cuvée is fantastically textured, made exclusively from Chardonnay from five of the finest crus in the Côte des Blancs. These grapes have been carefully selected for their ability to evolve and express their full richness. Aged on lees for 12 years, this is one of the longest aged prestige cuvées on the market.

To the eye: A pale gold colour with light green glints, and quite youthful, in contrast to the previous vintage.

On the nose: The chalky minerality of the Côte des Blancs is all-pervading. We detect toasted and smoky notes. When swirled in the glass, fresh citrus notes appear: grapefruit, yuzu and quince. They bring a cheeky youthfulness to this fine, delicate nose.

On the palate: The identity of the vintage is intertwined with a sharp acidity, reminiscent of the 2004 vintage in its first flush of youth. An enveloping texture is then revealed with accents of lemon meringue pie and subtle saline notes. Its generosity is very prominent and will continue to develop with ageing. The finish is long and full-bodied.

Gentleman and entrepreneur in the audacious 19th century, Charles Heidsieck was heir to a Champagne fortune, a rebel with an extraordinary thirst for adventure. At age 29, he founded a Champagne House in his image: authentic, distinguished and which stands out among all others. In keeping with this spirit, his grandson Charles-Marcel created a Blanc de Blancs, consolidating the style of a House that manifests itself across all varietals.

What makes Charles Heidsieck such an excellent house? Well there are many avenue we can discuss, however, let's will focus on their unashamed pursuit of quality through long cellar ageing, a back catalogue of reserve wines in Solera and a multitude of vineyard sites to select across. They produce some 800,000 bottles a year, which is small on the grand scheme of champagne production. The Chef de Cave is Cyril Brun who has done a sterling job of crafting some extraordinary wines with finesse, power and maturity.

According to our friend and colleague Tyson Stelzer, "The new Charles Heidsieck is built on deep, autumnal complexity, juxtaposed with vibrant energy and astonishing poise. Its cuvées have never looked finer." Tyson Stelzer - The Champagne Guide 2018-2019

Let's not forget they own 1 of the 5 UNESCO World Heritage listed Gallo-Roman cellars that are impressive as they are a prominent part of history.

100% Chardonnay fermented in steel tanks by plots (cru). Full malolactic fermentation. Dosage 7.3g/L. Aged on lees for 12 years, this is one of the longest aged prestige cuvées on the market.
