The story of Champagne Francis Orban begins in 1929 with Léopold Orban, a true pioneer in the Vallée de la Marne. Based in the small village of Leuvrigny, Léopold was the first in the area to install a champagne press and begin producing wines under the family name. His passion for craftsmanship and commitment to the region’s terroir laid the foundations for generations to come, establishing a family legacy deeply connected to the land, the vineyards and the traditions of champagne.
Over the decades, each generation of the Orban family helped shape the house into what it is today. Francis’s grandfather Gaëtan expanded the business throughout France during the post-war years, while his father Pol continued developing the vineyards and cellar operations. Growing up surrounded by the family domaine, Francis developed a deep connection to both the vineyards and the winemaking process from an early age. In 2007, he launched Champagne Francis Orban, creating expressive grower Champagnes that quickly earned recognition among sommeliers, restaurateurs and wine merchants across France and beyond.
Today, Champagne Francis Orban is celebrated for elegant, terroir-driven cuvées that showcase the unique character of the Vallée de la Marne. The house has become particularly recognised for its exceptional use of Meunier, crafting Champagnes that combine generosity, freshness and precision. With a strong focus on authenticity and craftsmanship, Francis continues to travel internationally sharing the family’s wines with collectors and champagne lovers seeking grower Champagne with personality, depth and a true sense of place.
