Taittinger Comtes de Champagne '12

Sale price

A Comtes de Champagne is rare. The criteria governing its production mean that it cannot be created in large volumes. Only 35 great vintages have been produced since the first cuvée in 1952.

Comtes de Champagne 2012 is the finest expression of the Taittinger House style. It is made with 100% Chardonnay from five Grand Cru villages: Avize, Chouilly, Cramant, Oger and Mesnil-sur-Oger.

The Palate: A full-bodied palate built on a chalky backbone, which lends it a combination of intense flavours and lustrous elements, underscored by a fine and precise acidity. Refreshing flavours of ripe citrus fruits paired with a long, saline finish. Possessing natural intensity, Comtes 2012 is unmatched in its vibrancy and in the exceptional purity of its fruits. It will evolve with both energy and finesse.

Exceptional cellaring wine which will survive the passage of time without losing its quality or origin.

JAMES SUCKLING – 99 POINTS

This is a fantastic and refined Blanc de Blancs. So layered and complex, with lemon curd, chalk, hazelnuts, pastries, baked apples and almond croissants. Structured and tightly wound, with almost imperceptible bubbles. Delicious salty notes at the end. Beautiful. Drink or hold.

Champagne Taittinger is one of France's most celebrated champagne houses. As the epitome of French sophistication, style and grace, Champagne Taittinger celebrates the pleasures of life, believing that special moments are best enjoyed with fine champagne and great company. Revered by critics the world over and recognised as the champagne connoisseurs, Champagne Taittinger is renowned for creating wines of unmatched delicacy, elegance and finesse.

The Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs is made exclusively with Chardonnay from the 5 villages on the Côte des Blancs with Grands Crus classification: Avize, Chouilly, Cramant, Mesnil-sur-Oger and Oger. This unique terroir is a strip of land measuring barely 20km. The thousand-year-old chalk is present on the surface, creating a real oasis of water and warmth. White grapes flourish beautifully on this type of soil, from which they derive minerality, strength and aromatic sophistication. To create the Comtes de Champagne, only the cuvee is used, for an absolute guarantee of sophistication. Of the wines that make up its composition, 5% have been aged for 4 months in new oak barrels, one third of which are replaced each year. Comtes de Champagne 2012 has spent 10 years slowly maturing in cellars.

Perfect for a special celebration, this champagne is the ideal match for a seafood, shellfish or fish entrée. With an ideal serving temperature of 11°C, this cuvée surprises from the first sips with its incredible youthfulness and its crystal-clear, taut texture.
