'Héroïne' 2013 is the third vintage produced by the Petit Boxler family by this exciting new domaine;'La Rogerie'. It is 100% Grand Cru Chardonnay from Avize with the parcels nestled between famous producers of Jacques Selosse and Louis Roederer.

It was disgorged in December 2020 with a tiny production of just 496 bottles. This special boutique champagne house, created in 2016 by young married couple Justine and François Petit-Boxler, produces only around 9,000 bottles a year.

We are proud to introduce this boutique producer exclusive to Emperor - Domaine La Rogerie who are based in Avize. This husband and wife team François and Justine are leading the charge with their family's estate - Famille Petit Boxler founded in 2016. Both coming from a family of vignerons François's grandparents bought their vineyards in Avize;in the 1940s' and up to 2015 have been selling their wines, whereas Justine's family were established back in 1640 in the town of Niedermorshwihr in Alsace. They are passionate about soil and farming organically, with no pesticides, to recreate biodiversity and strengthen soil structure, as well as the encouraging the old vines to dig deeper. The vineyards were planted in the 1950's in the heart of the Côte des Blancs: Avize and Cramant, both classified as Grand Cru villages. Since 2000 they have started vinifying independently. Some Vins de Reserve have been added to create the first Cuvée: La Grand Vie.

This has had about 90-months of ageing on lees which adds tremendous complexity and richness. With all this incredible ageing and power, there is little need to cover it up with dosage, hence the low addition of 2 g/l.

Being a richer and more decadent wine, you can introduce earthy foods, like truffle, and mushroom. This can take form of a risotto, truffle fries or perhaps a fancy fried chicken. It's a knockout wine, you have been warned.
