Moët et Chandon has been the number one selling champagne in the world for hundreds of years and for many people, it is the first association they have with champagne. The house was founded in 1743 by Claude Moët, an experienced wine trader who became increasingly interested in this increasingly popular sweet sparkling wine! Having formed a close relationship with Napoleon Bonaparte, the first Emperor of France, Jean-Baptist Moët – grand-son of Claude further added to the celebrity of the brand which continued with strength to strength. Jean-Baptist inherited the house from his Grandfather and took the brand to international prominence. Moët produce many millions of bottles per year and have big sponsorship contracts with the likes of Scarlett Johansson and Roger Federer.
