More Than a Family Story — A Passion

Champagne Collard-Picard is a proudly independent Récoltant-Manipulant house, founded in 1996 and carried by the 5th and 6th generation of the Collard family: Olivier, Caroline, and Alexandre. With deep family roots across two iconic Champagne identities, Collard-Picard represents something rare — a modern grower house built on generational know-how, with a sharp commitment to quality at every step. Producing around 90,000 bottles per year, the estate is now shared across 25+ countries, balancing French heritage with a global presence.

Food Pairings

The rich texture, mature complexity and refreshing finish of Essentiel Vintage 2012 make it a beautiful match for refined, flavourful dishes. Pair with roasted chicken in a creamy mushroom sauce, seared scallops, lobster or aged Comté. Its toasted notes and generous structure also complement roasted veal, buttery seafood dishes and earthy mushroom risotto, while its vibrant acidity provides an elegant balance to richer flavours.

Technical Notes

Crafted exclusively from the exceptional 2012 vintage, Essentiel is a blend of 50% Chardonnay, 25% Meunier and 25% Pinot Noir, sourced from Grand Cru vineyards in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Oger in the Côte des Blancs, alongside parcels on the right bank of the Vallée de la Marne. Only the finest portion of the first pressing, known as the cœur de cuvée, is selected. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts in large 72-hectolitre oak barrels, with malolactic fermentation blocked to preserve freshness. Following eight months on fine lees in oak, the wine was bottled in April 2013 and aged for a minimum of 12 years before release. Produced without dosage at 0 g/L, this Brut Nature is exceptionally limited, with just 6,420 bottles and 240 magnums produced.

What to Expect

Displaying a beautiful deep golden hue, Essentiel Vintage 2012 opens with rich, inviting aromas of ripe orchard fruits, toasted biscuit and freshly baked bread. The palate is generous and full-bodied yet remarkably fresh, revealing expressive notes of juicy pear and subtle toasted complexity. Despite its extended maturation, this exceptional vintage retains a youthful vibrancy, leading to a beautifully persistent, fleshy finish with impressive depth and elegance.
