What to Expect

The non-vintage Platine Premier Cru by Nicolas Mailart is a fresh and unctuous champagne.

It is made from Pinot Noir (57%), Chardonnay (28%) and Pinot Meunier (15%) Premier Cru from the Montagne de Reims. The blend of mostly Pinot Noir gives it a beautiful aromatic structure that is balanced by the freshness of the Chardonnay.

The non-vintage Platine 1er Cru is aged between 3 and 4 years in the cellar before being offered for tasting.

Extra Brut (varying depending on the year between 1 and 2.5 g/L), it will surprise you with the richness of its aromas alternating ripe fruits (apple, pear), toasted notes (almonds, toast) and light floral touches. On the palate, you will immediately be struck by its full and vinous attack.

About the House

Nicolas has made wine at his family estate since 2003 and has had two decades to hone and perfect his house style. He controls, farms, and manages all of his vineyards himself, working all of his soils. His Champagnes are pure, elegant, terroir-transparent, stylish, and delicious! Tasting through his lineup of vins clairs is like tasting through a cellar of young wines in Burgundy, and he has figured out how to transform the magic he has in barrel into his resulting Champagnes that emerge years later. Nicolas Maillart is sure to be a household name in Champagne in the near future, and I know you will enjoy getting to know these as much as I have.
