- The calling card of the house

- Elegant style of champagne in the prized magnum format (1.5L)

- Pair with canapes and friends

Taittinger always prepares its Brut Réserve blend first, and only if the vintage is deemed of sufficient quality are its other cuvées assembled. This philosophy, together with a generous inclusion of reserves and long lees age, has produced another impressively poised rendition.

With a bright, pale straw hue, this is a lively and crunchy apéritif style that magnificently juxtaposes the vibrancy of chardonnay with the complexity and texture of maturity on lees. It sings with the apple, pear, lemon zest and grapefruit vivacity of chardonnay, the crunchy red apple and tangy strawberry hull of pinot and, in the 2014 base, ever more prominent roast almonds, gingernut biscuits and vanilla nougat of bottle age.

The 2015 base is a clean and vital style of subtle lees-derived complexity, retaining impressively bright focus for its warm season. This is a refreshing apéritif of persistence, poise, intricately integrated dosage and lively acid line, basking in the glory of the fine chalk mineral structure of great chardonnay crus.

40% chardonnay, 35% pinot noir, 25% meunier; from 35–45 crus; 20% grand crus, half in reserves and half in chardonnay tailles; 30% reserves, aged 5-6 years on lees (for Magnum); 8–9g/L dosage; cork
