What to expect

A light pale yellow in colour with a very fine, light bead filling the edge of the rim. The nose presents a delicate tangerine-orange like character which opens up to richer notes of escargot pastry and candied lemon. The palate is gentle yet energetic, displaying a chalky mineral structure with rich fruit and generous mouthfeel. A distinctive yellow grapefruit/citrus oil rises from the pool of minerals and brings with it a trail of delicate cooking spice and toasted coconut, thanks to a small percentage (6%) of barrel-ageing for up to 5 months. What is true about this wine is that it is just coming into its stride and would be quite content in the cellar for 10 years or more under the right conditions.

The 2006 represents the first vintage made under family management, following the buyback of the Champagne Taittinger brand by Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger. "Comtes is the Soul of Taittinger... it's an extraordinary wine whose reputation was built by my ancestors. It's devine; it's magic; it's a glorious wine." Pierre-Emmanuel.

Suggested serving temperature for this wine and other vintage wines would be around 10-12 degrees Celsius. You will also discover more of the wine by doing this.

Food suggestion

Rich, ethereal and mineral with lemon curd and biscuity notes. Heaven. We love this champagne with a seafood risotto and a squeeze of fresh lemon and a sprinkling of parmesan to finish!
