Pommery Grand Cru 1995 Jéroboam 3L

Vintage 1995

$640.00

- Exceptional Jeroboam release of one of a Grande Marque

- 1995 Vintage

- Sourced exclusively from Grand Crus villages

This Pommery Grand Cru is a pleasure to taste. It has a rich, golden color, and is lined with fine and persistent bubbles. Intense buttered brioche aromas bound out of the glass, along with baked apple, hazelnut, spice and quince aromas. The lengthy aging has contributed copious amounts of baked-fruit notes, such as pears, quince and apples dusted with spice. The finish is long, layered and complex, and shows great finesse. This is a fantastic expression of Champagne at a price that rarely – if ever – comes around. - Janine Lettieri | Sommelier based in New York.

Sourced from 7 Grand Cru villages around the Montagne de Reims and Côte des Blancs. 50% chardonnay 50% pinot noir with approximately 10-11 years ageing on lees. Sits at around 7g dosage.

One of the Grand Marques of Champagne and rightly so. Madame Louise Pommery took over the small family vineyard at a young age after the unfortunate passing of her husband left her with a young child and an even more immature business in the Pommery Champagne Estate. With sheer perseverance, a generous sense of spirit and a pioneering mindset, Madame Pommery challenged the ideas of champagne production and changed the business forever by creating the first brut (dry) champagne.

Wine maker Thierry Gasco is doing a great job to not only nail the consistency and quality of their flagship Brut Royal but take a step up the champagne ladder with Pommery to see their real skill. Springtime Rose and Summertime Blanc de Blancs are both delightful cuvées and would hold their own at a connoisseur's dinner party.

For sheer decadence, drink this beauty with smoked salmon, caviar and crème fraiche on brioche toast.
