At the 2019 Good Food and Wine Show, we decided to open this exceptional bottle and serve it to a handful of lucky Champagne lovers. For a wine that is almost 20 years old, it was remarkably vibrant and fresh, holding the acidity and fruit together well. It was after a few minutes in the glass that we started to see the layers reveal themselves, from warm toast, spiced honey and citrus marmalade notes began to emerge. The flavours went on for a while and our guests were truly impressed.
It's true what they say about Magnums when it comes to ageing and that is that they can last considerably longer if stored correctly. Our Pommery Grand Cru 1999 magnums comes complete in their wooden box and live in our climate controlled warehouse to ensure best cellaring.
Sourced from 7 Grand Cru villages around the Montagne de Reims and Côte des Blancs. 50% Chardonnay and 50% Pinot noir with approximately 8-9 years ageing on lees. Sits at around 7g dosage.
