Pol Roger Brut Rosé Vintage 2012 Champagne

Rosé 2012

$169.95

- Iconic Champagne House in Epernay
- A classy, elegant and sophisticated rosé champagne
- Pinot Noir dominant

Pol Roger only produces this Rosé in vintage years. This is 65% Pinot Noir and 35% Chardonnay. The fruit is sources from 20 grand crus and premier crus in the Montagne de Reims and Côte des Blancs. Full malolactic fermentation; 8 g/l dosage.

Colour is salmon pink with very fine bubbles (Pol Roger house style). The nose has aromas of red berries, strawberry and citrus. On the palate, buttery brioche, toast and quince. We love how elegant and subtle this rose is, yet very powerful on the finish.

If it is good enough for her Majesty the Queen to drink every evening, then this it is good enough for us. Pol Roger is of the few champagne houses that have rightfully earned the British coat of arms to adorn every bottle and after all, it’s not just a favourite with the Royal Family but most of Britain, who know good champagne from the average. This medium-sized, family owned treasure of the Champagne region is the epitome of quality and consistency. With deep cool cellars, this maison leaves their cuvées ageing for far longer than most of their counterparts allowing the development of very fine and tiny bubbles. This creates a silky texture on the palate with subtle toasty notes that are the hallmark of excellent champagne. If ever in doubt, buy Pol Roger.

95 points, James Suckling - "A rich yet very dry rosé with cherry, strawberry and strawberry tart. Hints of citrus. Full-bodied and very creamy with fine bubbles and a long, persistent finish. Focused finish, giving this form and tightness. Drink or hold."

94 points, William Kelley, The Wine Advocate - "Pol Roger's 2012 Brut Rosé continues to show very nicely, wafting from the glass with aromas of plums, red berries, brioche, blood orange and smoke. Full-bodied, vinous and enveloping, it's a textural, elegantly muscular wine with fine concentration and a fleshy core of fruit, complemented by a pretty pinpoint mousse. This is a charming, gastronomic rosé that's beginning to drink with style."

Food suggestion

This wine is simply a knockout so you either match it with something like this duck dish created by Chef Adam Stokes combining tart rhubarb, poached in a sweet liquor of vanilla and star anise, with a crunchy, savoury granola. If you prefer dessert (but not sweet) try the rhubarb fool as suggested by the house.
