One of the Grand Marques of Champagne and rightly so. Madame Louise Pommery took over the small family vineyard at a young age after the unfortunate passing of her husband left her with a young child and an even more immature business in the Pommery & Greno Estate. Louise was an early #GirlPower pioneer, not only because she ran a business at a time when men dominated just about everything, but because she came up with a number of groundbreaking ideas, including storing wines in temperature controlled caves and producing the first Brut (dry) Champagne. When she passed at 71 years, she was the first woman to be given a state funeral in France.
