What to expect

"The Alpha aspiration is for ‘perfect harmony, depth and finesse’ without constraints to a specific blend. Each vintage is thus built around different cépages, crus and ageing. The 2010 rendition tones powerful fruit presence of star fruit, pineapple and golden delicious apple with the crunch and grip of grapefruit. Notes of marzipan have gathered over five years of lees age. It propagates with good line and length, contrasting fruit concentration with well-defined acid line and a touch of phenolic grip."

Tyson Stelzer - The Champagne Guide 2018-2019

This is a blend of 60% chardonnay from Avize and Vertus, with 40% pinot noir coming from Chigny-les-Roses, Mailly-Champagne, Verzenay, Verzy and a little from Aÿ. It has been aged 5 years on lees and has 5 grams of sugar (per litre) dosage.

About the house

Food Suggestion

"It is the passion for the terroir of Champagne, and the wines, that pushed a handful of winemakers to create Jacquart. In 1964, this bold economic vision was the first sign of audacity as up until that point vineyards were only grouped by their village. Champagne Jacquart’s founders immediately saw the bigger picture: the House should unite winegrowers, across the region, in a shared style and shared brand values. The two founding directors were Maurice Bonnet who became president, and Joseph Fresne. The Mosaïc Collection represents the heart of the brand. Champagne Jacquart Brut Mosaïc is its signature cuvée, and represents its house style. The vineyards cultivated by its winemakers cover 2400 hectares spread over sixty crus, that is to say, sixty villages throughout the champagne area. Jacquart selects only the best 350 hectares for winemaking. The Brut Mosaïc is a champagne for all times, sharing the pleasures of daily life, celebrating good news – it is the champagne you always have in the fridge." Laurent Reinteau - Managing Director of Jacquart.  The founders of Jacquart selected the Pegasus to be the key image on the labels – a symbol of radiance and vitality, and a fitting reflection of the brand.

Food Suggestion

We have had visits to the house and each time they have surprised us with different pairings with the Cuvée Alpha. We enjoyed these dishes; 1. Roasted scallop ravioli served with diced rhubarb and cockles in yuzu jelly. 2. Marinated tuna, orange/fennel and mashed potato with fresh mint leaves.3. Sweet breads, with pea purée, new potatoes, asparagus and fresh broad beans with liquorice emulsion.
