What to expect

Moving up from the 'Invitation Brut' to the Instantanee, meaning 'Instant' or as the brothers describe 'a snapshot' of the year and is an equal blend of all three varieties. We love the balanced nature and well-integrated flavours of this champagne that has a roundness and creaminess to the palate. Aged between 5-6 years on lees which adds layers of toast, roast almond with a nougat. Good wines should always want you reaching for another glass and this does just that. Enjoy a vintage champagne from a great year for an absolute steal.

30% meunier 35% pinot noir with 35% chardonnay. Reserve wines are at around 35% with 5 years on lees plus another year in bottle. Being Extra Brut this has 4 g/l dosage (addition of sugar).

The harvest in 2009 was hot and dry and yielded wines of power, ripe fruit and intensity. These harvests are marked by an immediacy to drink as they provide an upfront appeal with the nicely developed fruit character, juicy tannin and persistent finish on the palate.

Food suggestion

On the northern of the Montagne de Reims in Ludes, Francois Huré and his brother, Pierre, run their family estate of Huré Frères, cultivating about 26 acres (10 hectares) of vines. Most of the vineyard work is organic and parcels are vinified separately to preserve their characters. Huré's champagnes combine rich texture with racy acidity, as demonstrated by the nonvintage Invitation, made mostly of pinot noir and meunier. Peter Liem - Champagne

Food suggestion

With the Extra layers coming from the lees and the generous soft palate, a warm mushroom tart with creme fraiche would be a winning combination. Vintage champagne a aged hard cheese like Comte or Gouda work a treat too.
