Coming from the excellent 2008 vintage, quantities are in limited supply. This is 55% chardonnay coming from Avize and Chouilly, and 45% pinot noir sourced from Mailly, Verzy, Mutigny and Mareuil. All are 100% grand cru vineyards. Less than 10% of pinot noir red wine addition and reserves sit between 20-30%.
There are notes of baked strawberry and warm pastry on the nose. Smoky red fruits flow on to the palate with a delicious exchange of tannin and minerality. The acid profile moves across the tongue with some pomegranate sweetness and crunch.
Notes on the vintage: The year began with a mild winter followed by a cool, dry autumn. A rainy period grape varieties. The good weather arrived just before the harvest, which accelerated the maturing process whilst maintaining high acidity. All of these elements are indicators of a great vintage.
