Franck Bonville Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru 2012

Blanc de Blancs 2012

$129.00

- Silky and elegant Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs

- High quality producer based in Avize

- Japanese cuisine would work perfectly. Sashimi, california rolls and fried spanner crab.

We were enamoured with this wine as it shows true purity and great terroir. Notes of tipsy cake on the nose with pineapple, lemon and ginger that lead on to fresh fig with some baked apple notes. The palate is juicy with a fleshy-chalky palate with a long length. Excellent.

Technical details

100% Avize Grand Cru fruit all from the 2012 harvest. Made entirely in stainless steel. Disgorged April 2018 with a dosage of 6.67 g/l.

As demand for the greatest Côtes des Blancs grand crus continues to spiral, the privilege of substantial, well-placed holdings cannot be overstated. Gilles and Ingrid Bonville and their son Olivier are in command of 20 glorious hectares of prime grand cru turf, largely in Avize, with old vines on the slope of Oger and a little in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Cramant. Tended and vinified with precision, their polished blanc de blancs contrast the tension and brilliance of Avize with the generosity and exoticism of Oger. Olivier Bonville is the Fourth generation of vine-growers. Tyson Stelzer.

A powerful and exotic Avize, built with layers of apple and pear, even star fruit exoticism, fragranced with chamomile and linden blossom. A hint of green olive is not out of place in the Côte des Blancs, if unexpected in such a youthful cuvée. Concentration and ripeness contrast the racy acidity and pronounced chalk mineral signature of this fabled village, making for a characterful and bold Avize of great length and room-filling presence.
