What to expect

A combination of 60% pinot 40% chardonnay sourced from across the multiple vineyard sites available to the Ellner family. It is made extra brut style and exhibits a golden straw glints in the glass.

The nose shows sign of rich lees and prominent yeast note which is evident from the 4 years of ageing. After a few moments in the glass, this forms into white peach and citrus fruit. The palate is fleshy with some power coming through from the pinot noir, as well as ripe red fruits coupled with patisserie notes of brioche. Once this has all quietened down, the acidity drives through and keeps good tension on the palate, leaving the mouth quite literally, watering. The Beau Joie shares many similarities with Ellners' Extra Brut 'Integral' Champagne.

The most striking feature of this wine is the design which has been inspired by the armour that the knights wore to protect the Kingdom of France and the copper roofs of Paris. The exquisite casing is made from 100% recycled copper and glass.

About the house

About the house

Food suggestion

Made as a special project by the talented house of Charles Ellner established in 1972. Ellner, who started his journey as a riddler for the local champagne houses, would purchase vineyards as they became available. The family holdings are at some 50 hectares which stretch across all major regions from north to south; Montagne de Reims, Vallee de la Marne, Côte de Blancs, Sezannais and far south in the Aube Valley. The house resides in Epernay and also has vineyards around the hills.

Food suggestion

From our research we have discovered that fried foods pair very well with champagne. Add some seafood into this category and you can either end up with local fish and chips or fritto misto - the Italian fried seafood mix. You can swap this for zucchini or eggplant as well.
