Benoît Déhu 'Les Rue des Noyers' Blanc de Noirs '15

Blanc de Noirs 2015

$155.00

- Biodynamic, single-parcel Pinot Meunier

- Hyper exotic style of champagne that has the underground wine scene talking

- Pair with equally rich and exotic, smoked foods like brisket or earthy truffle

"La Rue des Noyers, 100% Meunier, is one of the most distinctive, moving champagnes I tasted this year. When vinified alone, Meunier often yields wines with overt richness. This however, has plenty of depth, but it is also remarkably translucent. A whole range of spice and savory notes add striking aromatic nuance to the expansive red-toned fruit. This is not an obvious wine, but it is mesmerizing and captivating in every way. It was vinified in oak for 11 months with zero dosage". Disgorged: April 9, 2019. - Antonio Galloni

Technical details

All coming from a 1.70 hectare parcel of Pinot Meunier located in Fossoy on the western edge of the Vallee de la Marne. Soil is based on limestone. Organically farmed Pinot Meunier, 1.7 hectares farmed biodynamically. A quarter of the property is worked with a horse named Violette. All inified in oak barrels, many of which are made from trees from the forest of Fossoy. No malo, unfined and unfiltered. Aged in oak barrels. No dosage

Benoit is an eighth generation vigneron that returned to the family estate after working for Bollinger. He is committed to natural farming and aims to craft unadultered, pure Pinot Meunier. He purchased this 1.7 hectare vineyard and farms it biodynamically. The results are exceptional and we are thrilled to introduce Benoit's work to our dedicated champagne lovers. The Cuvee 'La Rue de Noyers', named for the walnut trees that line the parcel, is a wine that will keep you intrigued and coming back for more. - Doug Polaner

Truffles and caviar. We would start there and see where the night takes you.
