André Clouet Clos de Bouzy 2008 Magnum 1.5L

Blanc de Noirs 2008

$695.00

- Strong and creamy Pinot Noir

- 2008 vintage and only produced in Magnums

- Zero dosage so the fruit quality shines through

The grapes in this wine come from Le Clos, one of only 30 walled vineyards in Champagne, and are what the Clouet family say are their "most beautiful genetic combinations of Pinot Noir".

"Amplified in magnitude four-fold, the universes of generosity of site, village, vintage and variety align with metronomic precision in this young-disgorged style. For all of the exuberance that its bright, full straw-yellow hue anticipates, it delivers impressive accuracy and generosity of white peach and lingering spice. Well-balanced acidity and the soft, fine chalk minerality of the vineyard preserve admirable focus and poise." 94/100 - Tyson Stelzer

Technical details

Zero dosage; 100% Bouzy pinot noir

A winemaking family of more than 2 centuries, the founder was a printer in Louis XV's court of Versailles and the wines are cellared under the family’s 17th century village house. The style of the labels reflects their heritage.

Bouzy and Ambonnay are the epicentre of pinot noir in Champagne, and the Clouet family is the privileged custodian of eight hectares of estate vines in the best middle slopes of both villages. These are rich and concentrated expressions of pinot noir, wines of deep complexity, multifaceted interest and engaging character, yet with remarkable restraint and sense of control. Tasting after tasting confirm my impression that this small and relatively unknown grower ranks high among Champagne’s finest practitioners of pinot noir – and represents one of the best value of all.
