"Made two-thirds from grand cru Chardonnay, it owes its pretty mid-rose pink to grand cru Pinot Noir. Marguet's main holdings are in Bouzy and Ambonnay. This is a full-bodied 12% wine chock full of flavour in the middle with a hint of rose petals but definitely assertive rather than pretty. I gave it a massive 17.5 out of 20 and was amazed how delicious it still was even two weeks after the bottle had been opened." Jancis Robinson
We tend to agree with Ms. Robinson, the wine speaks for itself and you cannot help but be enamoured with the pure ease of flavour and persistence after a few sips. There is so much going on and if you have any issues with sulphur and prefer low or no dosage champagne, you have arrived at a great example.
Based in the grand cru village of Ambonnay, Benoit is fifth generation and one of the most exciting natural producers at the moment being certified organic and biodynamic. For example he is one of very few vineyards to plough only using 2 horses since 2010. He sources fruit from Ambonnay, Bouzy and Mailly and uses a very natural approach to fermentation using only wild yeasts. He is also sulphur free and uses small 225 litre oak barriques.
Sulphur Free, zero dosage as well as being Vegan and Vegetarian Friendly.
