What to expect

The Brut Classique is majority chardonnay 43% with 25% pinot noir and 32% pinot meunier. Aromas of citrus and lemon cake, with apricot and a touch of mango coming through. Exotic and elegant with a creamy palate, lightly effervescent and almost silky.

Through this comes the acidity adding back some tension to the wine. The finish suggests some almond and dried fruits, notably fig. A sign of the oxidative wine making coming to the fore. Great play between texture, freshness and oak spice.

Food Pairing

Based in Epernay, Alfred Gratien are certainly more led towards the traditional approach to champagne production winemaking, being; no malo-lactic fermentation (to preserve malic acidity) aged under cork, long ageing (oxidative style) and oak fermentation.

Food Pairing
