>HATT et SÖNER is a Champagne House located in the Côte des Blancs and is the first Swedish-owned Champagne house. The History of the House dates back to 1865 when the Vallois family planted it’s first vines. Around the same time, the Ruscon family (from Sweden) were entranced into the wine trade, however it was not until 1982 that the two families came together. It wasn't until almost 30 years later that the Vallois family, Ruscon family, and two other Swedish families decided to create a new Maison with a new vision and so HATT et SÖNER was born. The word Hatt is Swedish for 'Hat' and Söner for 'Sons'. In the 19th century, The Ruscon family owned hat factories which supplied to fashion houses in Paris. HATT et SÖNER uses only Chardonnay derived from both Grand and Premier cru vineyards located in Oger, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Vertus and Bergères-les-Vertus. Chardonnay brings finesse, elegance and freshness to champagne and the terroir of chalk and mineral reflect so perfectly in the HATT et SÖNER range. All the wines are vintage with the majority not going through malolactic fermentation. These are wines that can be stashed away in your cellar for at least 10-15 years.

Hatt et Soner is such an exciting luxury champagne brand. They use only Grand Cru and Premier Cru Chardonnay from la Côte des Blancs, the first press from hand sorted grapes and non-malolactic fermented wines to create only Vintage Champagnes. Their innovation and ambitions are driven by winemaker, Francois Vallois, whose core philosophy is to make champagne with a high degree of freshness, finesse and elegance.
Francois’ family has a long history of winemaking and he himself attended a school of viticulture before spending the last three decades has passionately nurtured and cultivated his vines and fine grapes. This commitment eventually led to the creation of the HATT et SÖNER champagne brand in 2011. This is one brand to watch, and to get into your cellar as soon as possible.
