Andre Jacquart 'Brut' Experience Magnum 1.5L

Blanc de Blancs NV

$234.95

- Top quality blanc de blancs producer run by the talented Marie Doyard

- Uses majority oak in the style of Andre Jacquart wines

- Pair with an orange and Fennel salad or lighter Hors d'oeuvres with pastry, salmon and light cheese.

The 'house' Brut cuvée is a blend of 60% Vertus and 40% Le Mesnil fruit. This bottling is based on the 2012 vintage with 40% reserve wines from 2011, 2010 and 2009. About 60% was barrel-fermented in ex-Burgundy barrels. Dosage is extra brut level at 4 grams per litre.

This is very much citrus dominated with seville orange and lemon peel and underlying mineral and herbal aspect. A great introduction to a Blanc de Blancs from this area and will likely impress many at a dinner soiree.

Top tip: Remember a Magnum is the best format to drink from and age!

Champagne André Jacquart was established in 1958 but essentially reborn in 2004 with the arrival of the fifth generation of the family to take the reins. The original champagnes made by André Jacquart built a reputation for outstanding value but today with granddaughter Marie Doyard at the helm, the philosophy is to produce the best possible wines from their suite of well-sited family vineyards.

The family’s holdings total 24 hectares predominantly, across 200 different parcels, in Le Mesnil sur Oger Grand Cru with the balance in Vertus Premier Cru. Only the best sites are used for the André Jacquart label. In the cellar a high proportion of used barrels from Burgundy are combined with very long lees aging to produce an outstanding effect.

The versatile range of André Jacquart champagnes represents some of the finest from the Côte de Blancs today. Rich yet fine and elegant; powerful yet precise. They are the perfect blend of pure Chardonnay fruit, Côte de Blancs chalky minerality, long lees aging, oak and secondary complexity. They are delicious now but are endowed with the depth and structure to live a long time.

Citrus and herbal elements in this wine would suit an Orange and Fennel salad or lighter Hors d'oeuvres with pastry, salmon and light cheese.
