Franck Bonville Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru 2013

Blanc de Blancs 2013

$129.00

- Silky and elegant Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs

- High quality producer based in Avize

- Full-bodied for a young vintage

We were enamoured with this wine as it shows true purity and great terroir. We liked the thin bubbles and discreet nose. As the wine warms up, the fruity fragrances appear, blended with young almonds and fresh butter notes. The mouth is fresh and well-balanced. A beautiful acidity supports the creamy structure brought by a long ageing on lees. Rich exotic aromas give volume and roundness until a lasting mentholated end comes to conclude the tasting.

Technical details

100% Avize Grand Cru fruit all from the 2013 harvest.  Fermented in 95% stainless steel and 5% oak. Disgorgement was November 2019 after 68 months en tirage.

As demand for the greatest Côtes des Blancs grand crus continues to spiral, the privilege of substantial, well-placed holdings cannot be overstated. Gilles and Ingrid Bonville and their son Olivier are in command of 20 glorious hectares of prime grand cru turf, largely in Avize, with old vines on the slope of Oger and a little in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Cramant. Tended and vinified with precision, their polished blanc de blancs contrast the tension and brilliance of Avize with the generosity and exoticism of Oger. Olivier Bonville is the Fourth generation of vine-growers. Tyson Stelzer.

93/100 International Challenge 2020: "Beautiful light golden color. The nose opens slowly on mineral fruity flavors, lightly toasted. The mouth reveals a fresh champagne, tense with extreme;y elegant aromas. Full body, with a long salty ending"
